We are excited to offer to contrasting short plays for 6th – 12th grade.
Austin is a brilliant teenage astronomer who happens to have autism. Lily is his popular classmate who happens to have an interest in astronomy. When a chance encounter after school leads to a growing connection between them, Austin’s imagination, intelligence, and constant struggles to connect with the world are revealed in the form of four characters representing his inner life. By turns funny and heartbreaking, The Other Room is a compelling and sensitive glimpse into a unique and misunderstood mind.
During rehearsals for this show, you will focus on developing characters and their emotions. You will embrace social issues that occur in our every day world.
On an impulse, a young girl makes up a story, and the complications that result from it are extremely funny. Suddenly needing an excuse, the girl fumbles for a moment and then blurts out that there has been a death in the family. Actually, the only thing wrong in this family is that the cat is missing. In any case, people start coming over to express their concern and sympathy. The parents think they’re referring to the missing cat and the hilarious complications just continue to multiply!
In Oh, What a Tangled Web, you will focus on comedic timing and line delivery.
Join us as we go on an adventure into two different types of plays – drama and comedy!
